Annemie Turtelboom is a Belgian politician and a member of the Open Flemish Liberals and Democrats. As of 25 July 2014 Turtelboom serves as Viceminister-president and Flemish minister of Finances, Budget and Energy.

Previously, she was active as minister in the Belgian Federal level.  She was the first ever Minister of Migration and Asylum policy in the Leterme I Government.  She became Belgium's Minister of the Interior in the Van Rompuy I Government on 17 July 2009 and retained that office in the Leterme II Government, which took office on 24 November 2009.  In the Di Rupo Government (2011-2014) Turtelboom served as Minister of Justice where she introduced the most far-reaching reform of the judicial branch since 1830 and laid the foundations for a revolution in sentence enforcement.

From 2003 to 2007, Annemie was a member of the Chamber where she committed herself to issues regarding work and pensions. She was a municipal council member in Puurs, Belgium and is currently holding this post in Antwerp.

Annemie obtained a master's degree in economics at the university of Leuven, Belgium where she lectured economics prior to her political career.

Annemie is married with two daughters. She is a known promoter of Belgian fashion. And she is a welcome speaker at feminist forums.
