Information and guidelines

The BSDS 2015 Committee invites you to submit abstracts for oral or poster presentations.

BSDS 2015 will focus on sustainable breakthroughs resulting from an interaction between the following domains of experience

• Track 1: Innovative value chains for sustainable development - Energy – Materials – Chemistry (EMC)
• Track 2: Regional Sustainable Development
• Track 3: CCU - Closing the carbon loop: Carbon dioxide Capture and Utilization

Abstracts must be submitted using the online submission form. Abstracts sent by post or email will not be accepted.

Receipt of your abstract submission will automatically be confirmed by e-mail.  Please contact the conference secretariat if you did not receive confirmation after 5 working days.

Notification of Acceptance or Rejection

All submitted abstracts will be reviewed and evaluated by the scientific committee of the selected thematic track and you will be informed personally of the result.

After review your abstract will be selected for:

• Oral presentation in the thematic tracks or
• Poster presentation for the poster gallery

Notification of acceptance or rejection will be sent to the corresponding author by mid July 2015. Please note that only the corresponding author will receive this email concerning the abstract and is responsible for informing all co-authors of the status of the abstract. Authors whose abstracts have been accepted will receive instructions for the presentation of their abstract.

If your abstract is selected for an oral presentation, you will be asked to send in a powerpoint presentation for the proceedings of BSDS 2015 as well as to provide a poster to be exhibited in the poster gallery at the venue.

Abstracts that are selected for a poster presentation will be used as such in the proceedings of BSDS 2015 and will also be exhibited during the whole conference in the ‘poster gallery’. 

Submission implies the intent of at least one author to register, attend the symposium and present the paper (either 15+3 minutes orally or in poster format). Contributions will only be finally accepted after registration and payment of the conference fee.

Manuscripts with the most favourable review results will be considered for publication in Sustainability — Open access Journal, an international, cross-disciplinary scholarly and open access journal of environmental, cultural, economic, and social sustainability of human beings. In that case you will be invited to send in a paper.

Participating in the call for abstracts offers you the opportunity to attend the conference at a reduced fee on condition of acceptance of your abstract..

Practical guidelines

Abstracts should be submitted electronically only via the conference website using the abstract submission form.

The abstract has to indicate the conference and the theme for which it is intended. Please note that the number of oral presentations is limited.  Final decision of the presentation will be made by an international scientific committee.

The deadline to submit your abstract is July 31, 2015.

Abstract format requirements and standards:

• All abstracts must be written in English
• Maximum two topics may be indicated per thematic track.
• Abstracts must not exceed 4000 characters, included interspaces and must include the following elements:

Header:

• Names of all authors. The first author’s name should be listed first with additional authors listed in the lines below
• E-mail address of the first author
• Title of the abstract (bold)

Body

• Clear statement of the issue/problem addressed
• Objectives/methods
• Conclusions
• References

Abbreviations should be defined

Maximum 2 tables or figures can be inserted.

• Posters

Posters should be no larger than 120 cm x 80 cm and should include your e-mail address.  More details will be provided upon acceptance.

Summary of important dates

• Opening call for abstract submission: Tuesday 31 March
• Closing date abstract submission: Friday 31 July  
• Notification of acceptance oral/poster: Monday 10 August
• Receipt of poster: Friday 25 September
• Receipt of oral presentation: Wednesday 30 September
